Privacy Policy

GeoBrief ("we", "our", "us") is a GEOINT intelligence briefing platform at geobrief.app. We aggregate publicly available defense, space, and AI news and provide AI-assisted tools for analysts and thought leaders.

Account information: When you register, we collect your email address, name (optional), and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.

Usage data: We track which articles you save (bookmarks), perspectives you save (POVs), and counts of AI features you use (executive summaries, LinkedIn posts). This is used to provide your personal feed and for aggregate analytics.

Email preferences: We store your digest subscription status.

Technical data: Standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and page views may be retained for security and debugging purposes.

We use your information to:

• Provide and improve the GeoBrief service
• Send transactional emails (welcome, password reset, email verification)
• Send the weekly intelligence digest (if opted in)
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from your Profile page, which permanently removes all your data (bookmarks, POVs, preferences) from our systems.

Depending on your location, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your data via the "Export my data" option on your Profile page
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from your Profile page
• Correction: Update your name or email from your Profile page
• Opt-out: Unsubscribe from the weekly digest via your Profile page or any digest email

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We may use privacy-friendly analytics (Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate usage patterns — no personal data is shared with analytics providers.

We use the following third-party services to operate GeoBrief:

• Supabase – database hosting (PostgreSQL)
• Vercel – application hosting and edge network
• Resend – transactional email delivery
• OpenAI – AI content generation (article summaries, LinkedIn posts). Article content is sent to OpenAI to generate these features.

Each provider has its own privacy policy. We do not send personally identifiable information to OpenAI.

Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We follow industry-standard security practices. While we take reasonable precautions, no internet service is 100% secure.

GeoBrief is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
